Valerie Pullan has been teaching Circle Dance classes in the Adelaide Hills for some years. Her dance experience began with a decade of competitive ballroom dancing, a style of dance that requires disciplined training, precise movements and emphasis on correct technique. When she discovered Circle Dancing, Valerie immediately felt exhilarated by its freedom of movement and self-expression.
"I took to Circle Dancing like a duck to water," she says. "It suits my creativity and the joy I have in music."Valerie's classes are unique and inspiring. She applies a wide variety music to Circle Dance - including classical, folk, big band and pop. She is passionate about exploring new approaches to Circle Dance. She connects with several online communities and has Circle Dancing friends from every continent.
"One of my greatest satisfactions is to see beginners go from initially struggling to gliding confidently around the room after just a few sessions. I enjoy seeing people's confidence and self-worth grow. Their eagerness for the next dance session is my reward."Valerie's other interests include vintage clothing. She trained in London in fashion design and haute couture sewing. She is an award-winning quilter. She is a keen gardener, pet owner and an active member of Epiphany Church in Crafers.
"Life is full and fun," she says with a laugh.
